"Key West beach homes!"

Key West beach homes are in short supply. You will find that most of them are in multi-story condo buildings, located next to a patch of sand that is called a beach.

Other so-called beach homes are located next to a marina and don't even have the patch of sand that is supposed to serve as a beach.

The problem in Key West is that this city is perched on a coral reef island and just doesn't have much of the natural sand that people associate with Florida. The existing sand is brought from elsewhere and dumped along the coast.

Since there is so little sand available, it is concentrated at the public beaches and a few upscale hotels.

Whenever the sand is blown away by a hurricane, new sand is brought in to replace it.

So, you don't find the lovely beach homes that exist further up the Florida coast. Sorry, that's just the way it is.
