There are many good Key West books you should know about. If you want to keep your luggage light, you can buy the books at a local bookstore after you arrive.

I like Key West Island Bookstore, which has a wide assortment of works by local writers. The store has new and used titles. It also holds readings and signings. Maybe you will happen to be there at the right time.

Another good local place is Bargain Books & News Stand.

For those of you who prefer the familiarity of the chain bookstores, there is a Borders Express.

If you want to read about Key West before your trip (or you want to learn more about it after you get home), I believe you can purchase all of these works from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders and others.

I suspect you also can find a great many of them on eBay.

For a general guide book, you might want Key West & The Florida Keys by June Keith. It is packed with information and photos.
