"Rest Beach is very small and cozy!"
Rest Beach is a very small and cozy Key West beach that doesn't get much attention. Like most of the other beaches, it is located on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island. Situated on the opposite side of the White Street Pier from Higgs Beach, it is similar to that beach in most respects.
Although it is a smaller beach and offers fewer activities than the neighboring beaches, it has a similar quality of sand, imported from the same place. I have few things to say about it, because there really isn't much to say. There are some picnic tables and a yoga deck, but not much else. For restrooms you will need to stroll over to Higgs Beach. Relax, it's not far.Like its neighboring beaches, the surf is very calm, with a habitually smooth surface. The distinction this beach shares with Higgs Beach is a long, low, wooden fishing pier, known as the White Street Pier. It provides good fishing and snorkeling opportunities without the necessity of a boat. If, unlike me, you are an early riser, this beach provides a good view of the sunrise. At least that's what people tell me. I wouldn't know. This beach, officially known as C. B. Harvey Rest Beach Park, is named for former Key West mayor and commissioner Cornelius Bradford Harvey Rest. Didn't know that, did you?
